Can I avoid paying rent for 11-month flat agreement?

Hi Sir, I have got a new job and hence need to vacate my current flat but the owner is forcing me to pay for 11 months as the tenure of the agreement is for 11 months. There is no mention of the lock in period or notice period in the agreement yet i had provided one month notice to her. Could you please help in this what can be done?

The landlord cannot force you to pay for the entire 11 months if the agreement doesn’t specify a lock-in period or notice period. Since you gave one month’s notice, this is typically sufficient. You can file a case in consumer court or consult a lawyer to avoid paying the full amount. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
